Silver Quandong
Silver Quandong (Elaeocarpus grandis), also known as Blue Fig or White Quandong, is a fast-growing Australian hardwood native to the tropical rainforests of Queensland and New South Wales. The timber is typically pale golden to light brown, sometimes with subtle pinkish tones, and features a straight grain with a fine, even texture.
This timber is moderately durable and resistant to decay, though it is best suited for interior applications. Silver Quandong is lightweight yet stable, making it easy to machine, carve, and finish. It is commonly used for furniture, cabinetry, veneers, and decorative paneling due to its smooth texture and ability to take stains and finishes well.
