Silver Quandong

One of our personal favourites, Silver Quandong is a highly regarded Queensland timber that is very easy to work with.  It features impressive figuring with a white to cream/straw coloured heartwood.

It has a hardness similar to Tasmanian Oak and is very strong and flexible, yet it is so lighweight that it was used to build the WW2 Mosquito bombers. Incredible.

It nails and glues well and is excellent for steam bending. Due to being extremely stable, it has become one of the preferred timbers for instrument makers and it is especially popular for the making of solid body electric guitars. Other applications include decorative veneer, furniture making, joinery oars and boating.
